Why do people blame the unions for the automakers financial problems?

Yes the Unions have contributed to the problem, but not as much as Congress has. They have placed a 100 billion unfunded mandate on the auto makers with the CAFE standards. They have demanded technology that does not exist. Our manufacturing industry is the most regulated and second highest taxed in the world. Congress would do better by America if they would keep their ignorant noses out of it. Congress and their interference in the mortgage industry have brought this all about. There is little or no credit to go around in the amount the big three need.
