Getting ink off a pole?

I was at school and I was at recess and I had a pen. It got ink all over my hands because it broke and I was trying to think what to do and I put my hand on a fence pole (metal or steel I think) and it got all over it. I tried to wipe it off and it smeared everywhere and it looks terrible. It was red ink so it looks almost like blood. I am worried I will get in trouble. I took spit and tried to wipe it off and it helped a little but not much. The good thing is when I got on the bus it started pouring rain and I don't know if that would have washed it off or not. It's Friday so I won't be able to look tomorrow so I wondered if that would get it off. Thanks!
